Day 1 Discover the Setúbal Península Wine Region
Pick-up at your Hotel in Lisbon, by English speaking Chauffeur in a deluxe vehicle Mercedes.
You will visit Bacalhôa. The Bacalhôa brand, established in 1922, has always shown a search for the perfection of their wines. This differentiation ambiance is noticed in the famous Palace and Quinta da Bacalhôa, in Azeitão, an estate with a history that dates back to the beginning of the Avis Dynasty. This wine tour was designed for the Portuguese wine enthusiasts and those who wish to learn more about the wines of the Península de Setúbal region, recognized worldwide. In an environment that breathes the history of the Portuguese ancestors, we will take you on a wine tour in a region where the most predominant wine is the sweet Muscat. The experience includes a visit to Bacalhôa Museum/Winery and Bacalhôa Palace with exclusive tour guide and wine tasting.
A Private Lunch will be served at the Bacalhôa Palace. An exquisite meal prepared just for you, served at the palace is a rare treat in sumptuous surroundings, a magnificent Renaissance Bacalhôa Palace, home to the first painted tile in Portugal as well as some excellent sweet wines.
After lunch, you will discover José Maria da Fonseca. Built-in the XIX century, the House Museum was restored in 1923 by the Swiss architect Ernesto Korrodi and was the residence of the Soares Franco family until 1974. With a façade and gardens of very special beauty, the House Museum has always been associated with the image of José Maria da Fonseca. José Maria da Fonseca is one of the leaders in the areas of production and sale of the table and fortified wines. This brand is marketed in more than 70 countries. The portfolio of José Maria da Fonseca comprises more than thirty brands of high quality, representing the major national wine regions. Many of them enjoy today's great popularity, national and internationally and are emblematic of our country. The private tour begins in the Room Museum with a brief explanation about the history of the company. After a walk through the garden, there is a visit to Wine Cellars. The Mata Wine Cellar, where the Periquita wine stages, the Teares Novos Wine Cellar, where annually takes place the Fellowship of Periquita and the Teares Velhos Wine Cellar, where rest the house’s oldest Muscats. You will taste Premium wines.
