Quinta de Ventozelo

Quinta de Ventozelo is one of the largest and most ancient properties of the Douro region. Its origins go back to the early XIX century, before being referenced in the map of Baron Forrester, in 1848. The first harvests have been made by the Cistercian monks, who settled in the region during the Middle Ages, playing an important role in the promotion of local agriculture. The twenty-nine rooms are spread over seven pre-existing buildings, with very distinct typologies, giving the guests different types of accommodations to choose from. The villas, like the Casa de Proprietário is the result of an intervention made in the late twentieth century, built on a traditional XVIII century Douro building, transforming it into a colonial-style hunting lodge.
